Hello world!
Welcome to my blog! It's crazy to think that after months of dreaming, scheming and planning I'll be on my way to the airport this time tomorrow to begin my adventures in Nepal. The past few weeks have absolutely flown by and after dashing between dentist and doctors appointments, several final last minute shopping trips and travelling all across the UK to see friends and family it's finally feeling pretty real!
So, a little bit about what I'm going to be doing... Global Vision International works with people all over the world, running projects involving teaching, wildlife conservation, adventure and childcare. The project I'm going to be part of involves teaching English in a boarding school near to the lakeside town of Pokhara, as well as helping out at the English club run in a local cafe. At the weekends we'll have free time so we can travel up to the Chitwan National Park, go white water rafting, visit some of the many temples and even take a long weekend to trek to the Everest Base Camp if we feel up to taking on the challenge!
Now though, the big challenge of the day is fitting everything I need to live for a few months into one backpack that won't make me fall over when I pick it up - easier said than done...
While I'm over in Nepal I'll keep people updated through posts on here, emails and Facebook - fingers crossed I'll be able to get wifi every couple of weeks or so! For now though, after a lovely last full day in England for a while spent with Mum, a long hot bath (the last in a while!) and a few final preparations are in order.
