It was a rainy Melbourne day that lead all the female residents of Victoria Place to bond over plates of pizza, pavlova, sing star and lets not forget the mesmerizing eyes of Jake Gyllenhaal. Heading down to the first floor common room it was Nicola and Daniel that had to kick out the likes of the boys to prepare for the all-girls event. While the group of girls piled in we noticed a hooded figure creeping around in the common room. How this happened, I do not know, but unconsciously we let in a crooked-old lady. As she wandered about the common room, looks of confusion and downright fear hit the girls. Apparently she was drawn in by the sent of pizza or maybe just wanted to hang out in her trackies as well? Luckily Daniel was on his way out, explaining to her that no, this is actually a closed party, a student residence, not a motel. Confirming where she wanted to go, that the purple-sparkly hoodie was soon out of sight. Locking the doors on her way out, it was just us girls for a night of singing, eating and romantic comedies. We started with an array of homemade pizza's some burned, some not. All delicious. It was then we pulled out the desserts of chocolate coated strawberries, marshmellows, Aussie pavlova, leftover Easter chocolate and Tim tams. An Aussie staple, not a party without it. You won't find a household in Australia without this chocolatey goodness. Knowing we were safe from the surrounds of Footscray, our own little common room provided a comforting setting as the end of semester loomed ahead of us. Our night was complete as we got crazy to Beyonce, "Stacey's Mom" and some random Aussie singer I've never heard of. Gill slept, Emma drank milk and the rest of us avoided the mic at all costs. Always an educational experience, the sights, sounds and smells of the VP common room are just as predictable as the weather in Melbourne.
