Our last full day in Kakadu After setting off from camp we headed south to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). The road was herendous but was worth it. This place was beautiful! We went swimming in the plunge pool with a heap of fish and barramundi swimming all around us. Again Jodi took some coaching to get in the water. This time it wasn't the temperature but the fear of crocodiles. Jodi reckons there were bubbles rising up from underneath a log in the water.
After spending about an hour at Maguk we continued south on the Kakadu Hwy until we turned left and headed towards Gunlom Falls. Again the road was s*** but we've come to expect that now. Had lunch in the carpark before heading to the falls. This place was great as the base of the falls was only about 100m from the carpark. Again the water was crystal clear and wasn't as cold as Jim Jim. We then decided to trek to the top of the falls. By far this was the hardest climb of the trip but the view from the top of the falls is amazing. The top is made up of all these small little rock pools and you can almost make it to the edge of the falls to look down at the water below. Spent a good couple of hours here before heading back down. Jodi left her sunglasses at the top. We decided not to retrieve so hopefully a kangaroo is getting good use out of them now.
We spend out last night at Gunlom Camping area and we had a few hours in the afternoon to reflect on the trip. Loved every minute of it! Can't wait to come back, maybe next time with a group of our friends.
