Even though the location says Cozumel, I'm writing this on a sea day between Cozumel and our next stop at Castaway Cay in the Bahamas, Disney's private island. I'm sitting with Ros in the adults only section of the ship at the bow in front of the Satellite Falls pool, life's tough.
Can't remember my last entry at WDW, so I'll skip straight to Friday. Our last day there was busy. Started with a character breakfast in the Magic Kingdom. This was a buffet and was nice. Characters were from Pooh which I can take or leave.
Captain just blew the horn, which is always worth waiting for.
So back to magic kingdom. We spent the morning there until around 2 and went back to the room for a couple of hours and went back in the evening for dinner and meeting some people we were about to cruise with.
But you probably don't really care about WDW, you're waiting for the cruise info, and now I tend to agree.
The things that strikes you when approaching the port is the size of the Fantasy. We were about 7 miles out and the driver told us to look forward and we could see the upper decks and stacks, it's big!
We managed to get on board early and have lunch in the restaurant, enchanted garden, thanks to our travel agent who gave me the heads up. We met up with a group of people I have been chatting with on FB for some months which was great to put voices behind profile pictures and chat comments. They are a good bunch of people for sepos (I know they have a sense of humor now). Seriously, we've made good friends with one family and the guys are all good blokes, discovered after an afternoon at the bar at the second day, but as my shirt says, what happens on Fantasy ...
The ship is magnificent. From the opulence of the main atrium, the theming and luxury of the restaurants, the great bars and eating areas, the theatre that makes the Capitol look like a community hall, to the friendliness of every worker on board. Disney's goal is clearly to provide an experience of luxurious, relaxing cruising and they have achieved this by exceeding possibly even their own expectations.
Last night was Pirate party night where the whole crew and many guests dress as pirates and on deck they put on a pirate show, followed by fireworks and finish up with a family dance party on deck. If you're not aware, Disney is the only cruise line in the world with a permit to use fireworks at sea, and the show they put on, considering we are on a ship, so space and facilities are limited was quite spectacular. They were choreographed to music perfectly and were good quality.
Emily has been having a great time in the teens club, Vibe. She has found a group of people to hang with and we hardly see her. Jess, with some apprehension, went to the arranged meeting of 18-21 on the first night and hasn't looked back. She has found a group of around 8 similar aged people that she hangs with in the afternoon and evenings and is enjoying it. Ros and I are in bed before both each night and we get there around 12-1 am.
After the sea day today, we have semi formal night tonight, castaway cay tomorrow and back to reality on Saturday morning. By the time you will be reading this we will be in a hotel room in Santa monica. It will be nice to get home, but it will be much harder walking off this ship this time around.
This has been a great holiday. Possibly one of the best because we did not stress about anything and did not put ourselves in a position where we were time restricted. Even at WDW which was crowded nearly as much as Christmas, we were able to relax, take our time and do what we wanted when we wanted. The water parks were a new experience for us as was Harry Potter. The cruise was just wonderful and a perfect way to top off a relaxing few weeks. I can see more cruising, less parks in our future.
So all we need to do now is spend a night in Santa Monica, check out the pier and a little shopping, and jump on the big bird for the long haul flight home.
