Day 15 - Guele Guele Gocek hello Cappadocia
Guele Guele means to be on your way with a smile in Turkish and Ooti is obsessed with saying that. Jayne definitely didn't have a smile on her face and nearly cried when we had to leave Turkish hipster dude to go to Cappadocia. For some reason we couldn't fly from Dalaman airport (closest airport to Gocek) straight to one of the Cappadocia airports so we had to catch two flights one to Istanbul and then from Istanbul to Cappadocia. Ooti was in full panic mode on the flights we had - we thought the pain medication would have calmed her down - apparently not (by the way her back seems to be much better now). The flights were uneventful and before we knew it we were in Cappadocia. The tourists namely German tourists needed to calm down - they clapped when the plane landed, stood up before the plane had finished taxiing and started pulling all their bags down. Then when we got to the conveyor belt with the luggage they pushed us out of the way and put trolleys smack bang in front of the conveyor belt and stood as close as possible so we couldn't see where our bags were. Also the airport was so small there was only one conveyor belt and it wasn't one where the luggage continually went around, it was a straight line and if you didn't pick up your bag it would fall off the end onto the floor. There was a dude standing at the end of the conveyor belt who seemed excited to kick any bag that fell by his feet out of the way. We had a transfer to the hotel which was good as we arrived fairly late at night. We managed to survive the ride even with a screaming baby and a man whose nose kept sniffing the whole way - Jayne and I were going insane. We drove past the main part of the town which we decided looked like Disney land/ a ski resort and were very happy we were not staying there. Our hotel was further out and was beautiful - it overlooked one of the main rock castles and was actually a cave hotel. We had the best check in experience. We had cakes and drinks offered to us, meze plates and soup and then we had a thorough half hour discussion with the manager about the activities we wanted to fit into the next day. We knew the hotel manager was awesome when we whacked out a map and started highlighting routes and things to see on it for us - we were very impressed. Ooti in the meantime was having melt down number one. We don't know what her issue was but she was sitting in the corner, hair in her face like cousin it and cackling like a psychotic witch. She had lost the plot and Jayne and I tried to pretend we didn't know her.
Excited for tomorrow - activities galore!
