If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.

Tour Itinerary

Discover the fascinating history, rich culture and atmospheric enclaves of one of Europe’s most intriguing cities on this revealing Urban Adventure through the streets of Krakow. Join a local English-speaking guide and start the tour with a short walk to the top of Wawel Hill. This is a fantastic place to take scenic snapshots, as the views of Krakow are impressive when seen from here – so don’t forget your camera!

Continue the adventure by walking to the Royal Palace and Cathedral nearby. This is where elaborate coronations of Polish kings took place for centuries. Learn a little about the history of these buildings before moving on to satisfy your stomach! Stop and buy a typical Polish snack called ‘obwarzanek’. This doughy treat is sometimes referred to as a symbol of Krakow, so why not order in Polish after receiving some Polish language tips from your leader? Continue on to the historic Collegium Maius, where Nicolaus Copernicus and Pope John Paul II once studied. Listen to stories of Copernicus, who went on to become one of the world’s most influential scientists and astronomers.

Continue the walk by strolling to what could be considered the real heart of Krakow – Rynek Glowny (Grand Square). This medieval square is the perfect place to observe local life in action, as people wander through the market, sip coffee and mingle. Next, visit St Mary’s Basilica and admire the ancient, wooden altar crafted in the Gothic style many years ago by Weit Stoss. Finish the tour by listening to the unforgettable sounds of the traditional bugle call, which is played each hour by a local trumpeter. This haunting melody has come to be the signature tune of Krakow and is a fitting finale to this adventure through one of Poland’s oldest and most loved cities.
