What an end to the trip!
From Puerto Princesa we flew to Cebu and the immediately jumped on a bus down to Oslob. After 4 hours we arrived at the hotel and went straight to bed as it was an early start to see the whale sharks! In the morning we got picked up and driven to the area where they are. A guy then paddled us 500m out to sea and we jumped in and were surrounded by HUGE whale sharks! It is an animal I have always wanted to see and I couldn't have been happier during the 30 minutes you are allowed in the water with them. An amazing experience and one the I hope to repeat somewhere else in the future!
After the sharks we were taken to a nice waterfall and took a few quick pictures. After some breakfast and a shower we jumped back on a bus to Cebu and settled in for the 4 hour trip.
We spent one night in Cebu which is a large city and really a stop off point for our next destination, Malapascua island, another 4 hour bus north this time.
We arrived on the island just after midday on Thursday and immediately set about planning our dives. We are staying at thresher cove resort in a bamboo hut right on the beach, perfect for what we need it for. Malapascua is famous for its thresher sharks and it did not disappoint. The diving was spectacular and while sadly we didn't see any hammerheads, we did see threshers, white tip sharks, bamboo sharks, octopus, seahorses and sea snakes to name but a few. A magical place that I will be very sad to leave!
We have spent our last day diving in the morning with the sharks one last time and then relaxing by the pool. Tomorrow we leave for Cebu and then fly to Manila where we have one night before flying back to Dubai to see my parents on Wednesday!
