Coptic Christian Cairo
Manshiyat Naser, or commonly known as Garbage City. Garbage City is a slum settlement at the base of Mokattam Hill on the outskirts of Cairo and inhabited by the Coptic Christians. The Zabbaleen (meaning literally “garbage people”) village at the base of the Mokattam cliffs began around 1969 when the Cairo governor decided to move all of the garbage collectors to a single settlement.
