39.3km today means a too bigger day!
I was up at 5am this morning little sleep again but feeling good after a good meal last night and a few Vino Tintos with new friends!
Today leaving Torres Del Rio there were Gail force winds and a crazy storm so for three hours I walked straight into it with my leg giving me absolute hell every inch, being pitch black and getting lost several times and stalked by a wild dog!
Today was the worst pain I had experienced and the first 10km I hobbled into the wind at snail pace!
Why am I putting myself through this I ask? The snswer eludes me and I continue one foot after another by 10am I eat some pain killers and munch down my now everyday snack of baguette drowned in honey and covered in nuts - getting as many calories in as humanly possible!
I reach my destination early and now my leg has warmed up with the morning sun I continue on 12km to the next town! This is testing and hilly but I advance after an hour and a half walk through the city of Lugrono - massive city with population of 140,000!
Walking through the city made me agitated the people were unfriendly and everything was rushed - I am glad I didnt stay here I needed out!
I am definitely a small town person at heart and aim for the next small town Navarette! I arrive here by 1am have some lunch and foolishly decide to continue on to the next town - very small town called Ventosa! The sun is beating down hard now and the 8km to Ventosa is a drag! The last 2km my knee seazes and struggles to make it!
I arrive to my Albergue to be greeted by Hitler in female form, the lady running the Albergue is an angry little lady and the price has been put up from advertised! She is yelling at one of the guests who has asked for a room change!
I can easily avoid her but can't help think how many people her negativity will rub off on - the mood is somber and it shows that one persons bad attitude can have exponential effect on all around! Well I am going to smile and that's infectious as well so bring it :)
