Southern Island Soujourn
Went on a 9 day trip to southern thailand and the east islands, firstly we took an overnight train from bangkok to khao sok national park- we stayed here for 2 nights, we had small log cabins in the middle of the park and some of the others got tree houses, our first day a couple of us went out on a trek through the national park which was really good , was nice to get some excerise, there was loads of monkeys and other insects- didnt look to closely at them, and we walked upto some waterfalls dont think we went the correct way, as we decided to do it ourselves without a guide to save money and a think we may hav went to a different water fall than planned but was still fun - and we didnt get lost which is always a bonus first time trekking and i decide to go without guide ! Ahh well, so after the national park we took a combination of buses to koh samui, we were on a local bus that was bright orange , no air con and absolutly no leg room, think buses are designed different here as they all are short and would probably find that bus comfortable whereas my knees were up beside my chin for a gd few hours! so after buses/boats arrived in koh samui beaches were ... Nice but i thought they would b alot better, and it was a bit too sleezy were we stayed, all the guys we were with got hassled non stop, and there was lots of older western men there( seedy)! spent a day at the beach and then we all went out that night which was really gd to the main area - not as sleezy! after that we headed to koh tao this made up for my disapointment as it was soo much better than koh samui, the beaches were clearer and the whole vibe was better, so we stayed at a place right on the beach and had BBQ's for dinner every night, i also got a tattoo here, its a bamboo tattoo- basically they use a piece of bamboo and at the end its sharpend to a point and they use tht to draw the ink on, much less painful than normal tattoo's. Everbody dies not everybody lives' was the quote i got written on my side- in Thai, but i did double and tripple check that it did actually translate to that quote and not some sort of thai food dish written on me.
So islands were very good , weather was amazing and met great people, going to go back to islands before i head to oz to spend longer there and visit the islands i didnt get to go to.
so it was back on overnight train( finding them quite enjoyable now , the rocking of the train at night sends me to sleep - who would of thought!) and back to bangkok- next stop malaysia! And my friend jaff is coming out so we are going to travel malaysia together! xxjadexx
