If we thought the hostel in Trindade was good, we were about to back it up with an even better hostel in the otherwise dullish town of Foz Du Iguazu. Not that I can really comment on the virtues of the town having hardly left the hostal in three days- not to even see the famous falls. The problem was the hostel was sooo damn good. We met an English couple, George and Nat who had been there for 7 days to just rejuvinate from travelling, which this spot was perfect for. The owners, Fabio and Carlos were ledgends, cooking us Brazilian BBQ's in their massive outside stone grill, stirring up Caprhinas and playing Uno with us until all hours of the morning. On the first night Dan and the English got a little carried away and he fell asleep beside the pool until I came and woke him as dawn was hitting. As a result we spent that day escaping the heat and hangovers in the pool. On our final day it was thundering it down with the first bit of rain they had seen in over a month which meant our only goal was to get across the boarder into Argentina as dry as possible and without having to pay a fine for throwing out our tourist cards. Again, Brazilian generousity shone through as Fabio offered us a lift across the boarder for only a small fee. Not only did he take us to the door of our hostel but he also stopped so we could take photos of the giant lake that seperates the countries and took us to a special spot on the edge of town where we could view Brazil and Paraguay while standing in Argentina. At this point the Brazilian (and little bit of Italian) generosity was warming the cockles of my wee heart.
