I got up about 8am to have breakfast and watch the last hour or so of the Olympic Opening Ceremony. It was actually quite impressive, as following Beijing's one last time was always going to be very difficult.
I had some breakfast and then headed down to 'Pelecan Waters', south of Caloundra to go fishing. It was absolutely beauftiful down there and the water was very clear. I fished from about 12-3:30pm. I caught loads of little Bream, but only 1 big enough to bring home to eat.
All Australians seem to be so happy to help - I had 3 different guys give me advice while I was there. The only reason I caught so many was due to a guy conning along and telling I should be using bread and not worms/prawns. Sure enough I went from 0 fish to 5 fish in no time, and he just gave me a loaf of bread.. That just doesnt happen in England.
When I came home I just chilled around the house, then 'scaled' the big Pearl Perch I caught yesterday and the little Bream I caught today, so we could have them for dinner.
Mark and Fenellas friends were here for dinner with their 3 kids, so we had the fish and various chicken kababs with salads etc for dinner. It was a really nice evening which I thorough enjoyed, Mark and Fenella have some really nice friends!
The fish was also very tastey, so that was a success. All I need to do now is increase my catch rate so we can have it more often!
After the other family left about 10:30pm we stayed up for a while to watch some of the Olympic Highlights. It all looks like it is going brilliantly in London, even the Aussies were full of praise..
(Photo - one of the beaches the family went to in Portugal. Doesn't look too dissimilar from Pembrokeshire, just with better weather..)
