Knossos Island of Crete
Reconstructed building fro the Minoan period of Crete dating around 1300 BC. This civilization inhabited the area in the bronze age and were quite advanced for their time. The site of ruins is inland from the port of Heraklion and was discovered around 1878 and excavations started around 1900 and has been ongoing ever since. The realm was ruled by King Minos and his family for many centuries and seems to have abandoned around 1100 BC. The stonework of the ruins is very good and the people must have had great skills as the buildings were strong and well decorated and seemed quite light as there were a lot of window opening and natural ventilation shafts built into the structures.
