Just to let you know I'm thousands of miles away, but the cold virus is alive and well in NYC as well. Achoooo! The Colts are beating . The Giants and Jets play tomorrow. All is right in the world. I'm envious of Lisa, getting to spend some time with you on your journey. Thanks for posting such rich descriptions of your travels. Pictures would be nice, but maybe Lisa can bring a disc back hom and post them for you.
Be well.
Rosie
Hi Auntie! Are you going to visit Angkor Wat? If you do, we want to see a bunch of pics!!!

Happy New Year DJ !
So nice to hear of your adventures in Sapa and BacHa. you are making it very nostalgic for me, as I forgot what a magical place it is. Sounds like you liked Hoi An also. besides the tailors, I hope you were able to get some good artwork from the many cheap galleries that are all over town.
Sounds like you made a good friend with Elena. Hopefully you can hook up with her later on and after the trip. These experiences with complete strangers bonds you to them forever.
I guess you should be going to Dalat and then to Saigon. In Saigon, try to go to the area where all the funeral hearses are kept parked together (great photo ops). Hope you can find someone to go down to the Mekong Delta with (and go to the floating market, awesome place).
Have you thought about how you will handle Myanmar? Maybe if you cant find a buddy to go with....use those days to go to Laos, which is really very peaceful, mystical , and safe to go alone. Just a thought. Keep on trekking, we wish you the best journey possible, and look forward to more travel journals (dont be lazy and post a couple of photos!)

Hi Danita Jo!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! It's so fun that you got to experience it in another country. Loved the story about the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, err.. branch!
I won't be on a computer in the next few days, so I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year! How do they celebrate the New Year across the world? It's so exciting that you'll be there to celebrate the Chinese New Year soon! Maybe in one of the upcoming years, I can come to New York and experience the whole Times Square New Years
Much love,
Karyn

Hey DJ,
It sounds like you're having quite an adventure!! The weather in NY has been warm (the second warmest Dec. since 1870)!!
I have tried like heck to post the holidy picture of the boys....but can't figure out how to do it....I guess you'll have to wait to see their faces in person when you return.
I miss you and hope all is well.
Robyn
PS - have you bought more pairs of underwear yet??

Hey, DJ!!! had a nice, safe trip to your folks today. Warm weather for Chicago--no snow, in the 40's! Anyway, you know how techno savy I am, so your Mom had to show me how to look at your photos. What's up with that??? NO photos of your favorite Chicago-based aunt, uncle and cousins???!#@$ Only kidding....I expect to see them there for your next adventure!
Sounds like you're having a great time. Nice to hear that you met up with some English speaking folk. have a great time, as you continue your adventure. As always, you're in our thoughts and prayers! Keep us posted!
Love you.....and miss you, especially at the holidays! Aunt Denise
