A strange stop for us at Alice Springs. We were only there for 3 nights which included a day trip to the East MacDonnell ranges plus a game of golf for me (at Australia's best desert course). All this meant we saw very little of the actual town - I have no photos of the Todd river (which I believe is named after Warwick Todd - non fans of his work may need to visit google) or of the actual town itself.
The day trip to the ranges was another highlight of the trip. The scenery is spectacular - especially if you are a rock, cliffs, gum tree and/or dry creek bed freak. I know there are a few of you out there.
Golf was interesting course to play on - for a desert course it was very green. I chose to play from the dirt rough to get the true 'desert course experience' which unfortunately had a negative impact on my game. Lightening quick greens if anyone is heading there soon - fantastic backdrop being the MacDonnell ranges though.
We did go to the casino (no bets laid - dinner an footy only), fruit shop, coles, woolworths, butcher an bakery.
Dad also visited a Telstra shop whilst I was out golfing to replace his phone which conveniently packed it in early in the trip. This visit has kicked off potentially the most painful part of the trip. After watching him struggle with my old Nokia phone for the past 2 months I now get to endure him get to grips with a Samsung touchscreen phone! This will not be pretty.
