We arrived in Nha Trang nice and early, after dropping our bags off we decided to go to an outdoor resort with mud baths and lots of pools. We were joined by the guys we had met in Ha Long Bay/Hoi An (seeming to do the same route as us). The mud bath turned into a slippery mud fight...incapable of staying in one position for more than 5 seconds but actually making our hair feel super soft!!!
We spent the next two days being really lazy and went to a brewery on the beach where you could rent chairs and have a pool for £1....a little luxury is nice every now and then! Plus the passion fruit beer was worth it alone. While Rhiannon was at the water park me and Sarah decided to head back to the Greek restaurant we had been on our first night because it was to die for. Don't judge....we have had our fair share or noodles and rice that we just needed a good meat fix and my god the meat platter we shared did just that...food coma number two! The mixture of the beer and wine seemed to have made us a little emotional when it got to saying bye to the group we had been travelling down with, who we had an amazing time with! Things got a little too emotional (well for Sarah anyway) haha it was most likely the wine though!
The next day we travelled to Dalat, which was a little stop over to do some canyoning (the main reason being for Rhiannon). However once we got to the canyoning place Rhiannon ended up having really bad stomach ache and could barely stand so couldn't do it. So that left me, the person who wasn't actually too bothered about it to do it with the rest of the group. I'm really glad I did in the end, it's not every day you get to abseil down a 25m waterfall, it's also not everyday that the girls in your group take a squat in the river as they are trying to pee (still fully clothed with life jackets on ha).
Saigon was our last stop in Vietnam, we were a bit apprehensive about it as everyone was telling us that it's just a huge city and to only spend as little time as possible there. But we actually quite enjoyed it! We met up with the girls from Dalat for a couple of "casual" drinks which turned into Rhiannon.....yes Rhiannon, not me, getting absolutely mortal. One of the girls drew all over her face with red lipstick which didn't seem to bother her at all and she then took a leaf out of my book and ended up sitting in silence staring into space for the rest of the night haha! I'm not going to lie but waking up the next morning and being able to laugh at someone else was kind of good.
The day after we headed to see the Cu Chi tunnels which were used in the war. During the trip you were allowed to go through a 100m tunnel which had an emergency escape route every 20m. Sarah and Rhiannon were a bit sceptical but said they would try 100m (they are a bit claustrophobic and the tunnels were like 1m high and shoulder width wide), I on the other hand was like 'yeah 100m easy!' 20m later 'I'm getting out' so that lasted long ha as soon as one person stopped in front of you it just freaked you out. But it was pretty impressive to see how the tunnels were used and that people could stay in them for a full day without freaking out like the rest of us. That evening we decided to go posh and go to a rooftop bar, so we thought we would make a bit of effort, put on our cleanest, non smelly dresses and go for a cocktail. We then turned up and were told after 9 you have to pay £10 entrance and we could rent shoes from them as sandals are not acceptable for girls.....jog right on! Instead we ended up on a rooftop bar that was free and you could wear whatever you wanted (and could stare directly at where we could have been, oh and where your frozen strawberry cocktail tasted like it had been made with salt water). Nevertheless it was a pretty nice view and it was nice to doll up for once at least haha.
It was time for us to head back to Thailand but before we could leave we were left standing in the airport with 100,000 Dong which is around £3, attempting to get rid of those last pennies. The shop assistant saw us from a mile off and asked how much we had left, after half an hour choosing which snack to buy we got to the counter and shock...we were over our budget...I think the guy had had enough of us as he told us just to take it, yup travelling turns you into cheapskates. What makes matters worse after all that, as we walk off I then realised what I actually wanted was a drink...did I get one...nope! I clearly got too carried away trying to buy as much chocolate as possible. So with that, goodbye Vietnam you have been wonderful, hello 3 weeks on the Thai beaches!
