All of my pictures are now up of Italy. I started in italy with my mom in late may... We went to Rome, Florence, and venice together. It was an amazing trip and one I will never forget. When I returned back to New York, I felt a strong desire to head back to Italy and possibly go to language school. As with anything in life I left for Italy the second time 2 weeks later with a "friend" to Milano. I got to see what it was like being with an Italian family and experiencing the "italian" way of life...My time continued from Milano to Siena for the Palio Horse race which was an experience of a lifetime....My friend Stefano's family were truly amazing people. They took me in like i was one of them. I will never be able to thank them fully for the time I got to share with them, it was truly special, and unique.
While I was in Siena....my life started taking a different direction once again...I came to Italy thinking my life would be going more towards the domestic route, and it happened that I went in the opposite direction. I stayed in Italy at the villa and worked on a website in english for them, and in return they took me in like family and I made lasting friends, had experiences that were truly enlightening. Being in the hills alone...will get you thinking very quickly. I left Siena a little heart broken, and ready to repair and move forward and went to Florence to attend language school....
The next section of my life is called "meet me at Santa Croce"...One evening I was standing in my kitchen, truly ready to give up on meeting new friends...The school was full of americans obviously and young americans, early 20's...I was tired and just wanted to relax, not babysit. My friend from school called me and asked if I wanted to go to dinner at a place called Tiajuana's...mexican in italy.
I looked around at my situation...it was bloody hot, i was sitting in my kitchen in my undies eating octopus alone....I told her I'd meet her in 10 minutes. We sat down at the restaurant and that's when I met my 3 men. Mirko, Leonardo, and Francesco.
(I have to add in here that I learned more from my friend Johnny from England, then I may have learned in university in 4 years. Johnny is 21...and I cannot wait to see him when he's 30.):)
All 3 guys from Prato, a neighboring town in Firenze. Truly these 3 men saved my life. From that point on Italy had changed in mind forever. I experienced things on a whole new level, and started falling in love again as well. We went to the sea, Cortona, met a famous italian author, dinners, walks, Aida opera at Boboli gardens...they introduced me to new italian words, and gelatto I've never had, new music. These 3 men, have become my very good friends, and I was truly heartbroken to leave...as they saved me when I got to firenze...from many things, and I will always be thankful, and I promise to one day soon...be standing at Santa Croce waiting...un bacio.
