Take a scenic train ride from San Francisco to Yosemite National Park, one of the United States’ most famous national parks, home to majestic granite cliffs, clear streams and giant sequoia trees. The day trip starts with a beautiful train ride through California’s Central Valley. Once you have arrived at Yosemite, take a guided tour of the valley floor and see Half Dome, El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, Sentinel Bridge, Yosemite Falls and much more!
Meet your guide at the Ferry Building on San Francisco’s Embarcadero and board a shuttle for the short ride to the train station. Then board the air-conditioned train, find a comfortable seat, and leave the California traffic behind as you watch the busy Bay Area turn into the pastoral Central Valley on your way to Yosemite National Park, a national treasure and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When you arrive at the Yosemite train station, board another shuttle that will take you into the park for your valley floor tour, led by a National Park Ranger who will elaborate on the history, geology, plant species and animal life of Yosemite. The tour takes place on an open-air tram (late spring to early fall only), which allows you to fully admire the famous landscapes of Yosemite while you listen to your park ranger. On this tour, you’ll see Yosemite’s renowned natural wonders, including Half Dome, El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, Sentinel Bridge and Yosemite Falls (the highest waterfall in North America)!
After your valley floor tour, you’ll have 2.5 hours of free time to spend hiking, walking, biking (rental at own expense) or relaxing in a rustic park lodge. Explore the grove of giant sequoias or practice your nature photography at a scenic lake – Yosemite will amaze you, no matter how you spend your free time. You can purchase lunch at one of the park’s lodges or buy food to go and find a good spot for a picnic (own expense).
When your time in Yosemite is up, board a luxury coach for the return ride to the Ferry Building in San Francisco.
