Wine Tasting in Budapest

From: £18.11

Duration: 2 hours

Category: Sightseeing

Take a guided walk through one of the largest wine cellar systems in the world during this Budapest wine-tasting session, where you’ll enjoy trying wine in a historic cellar surrounded by ancient wooden oak casks. Spoil your senses with a delicious selection of Hungarian wines and snacks, and learn all about the long tradition of wine production in the famous Buda wine region.

Your Budapest wine tasting takes place in Buda, a region near Budapest that has been an important center for winemaking since the 18th century. Arriving in Buda by tram, visit a part of the largest wine cellar system in Hungary -- a 18-mile-long (30 km) labyrinth carved into a limestone hill where traditional Hungarian wine production is still alive. Surrounded by vintage wine barrels and iron chandeliers in a traditional winery, learn more about the Hungarian wine-growing area and the history of Budapest's wine cellars, which date back more than 300 years.

After your guide shows you the features of the cellar, including the third-largest oak cask in the world, take a seat and relax in a charming medieval hall for your wine-tasting session. Enjoy pogácsa, a typical Hungarian savory scone, and a selection of quality wines from all over Hungary, including the famous Tokaji Aszú -- known as 'wine of the kings and king of the wines'.

Your wine expert guide will let you in on the secrets of professional wine tasting. Learn about Hungarian wines in a historical atmosphere and experience a famous side of Budapest beyond the tourist attractions.
