Sitka Shore Excursion: Private Sitka Highlights Sightseeing Cruise

From: £26.60

Duration: 60 minutes

Category: Outdoors

While in port in Sitka, see the town's highlights and learn about its rich history during this one-hour private shore excursion. Led by a local, knowledgeable captain, this private sightseeing tour is the perfect introduction to Alaska's fourth-largest city. While cruising the calm waters of the Sitka Sound, look for local wildlife like sea otters, bald eagles and whales! In addition to telling you about Sitka's Russian heritage and role in World War II, the captain will also fill you in on the best places to eat and shop in town before you head back to your cruise ship.

Get the perfect overview of Sitka while you’re in port on this private one-hour sightseeing cruise. Your hour will be spent on the calm waters of Sitka Sound in a quiet, heated, 27-foot (8-meter) boat. The boat has a heated cabin, indoor marine head and comfortable seating, in addition to plenty of outside deck space. Your captain is not only licensed by the United States Coast Guard, but is also a fish and wildlife biologist able to answer any questions you may have when you’re out on the water.

During your shore excursion, see Sitka's beautiful waterfront while learning about the town's colorful history. Originally settled by the Tlingit (indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest), Sitka today is a culturally diverse town with deep Russian, Filipino and American roots. As a hotspot during the Gold Rush era, Sitka's population grew, but its role in World War II as a large US Navy base helped to establish the city. Signs of the Gold rush and World War II can still be seen today.

This private cruise can hold up to six passengers. As it is a private tour, you will have some say in where your cruise goes, depending on weather and other conditions.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to the Sitka port for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.
