At HK Airport about to depart for Hanoi, Vietnam. HK is a great place for shopping. We broke away from Hong Kong and its claustrophobia and headed out to a couple of islands- Lan Tau (to see the Big Buddha- which strangely had a Nazi sign on his chest) and Lamma Island where we went for a 1hr20 min trek round the island in baking heat. Stopped off at a beach and had a little swim before carrying on with a hillside trek. Ended up at the Rainbow Seafood restaurant which, we have to say, wasn't cheap, so we shared a plate of deep fried squid for about 150HK and sank a few Tsing Tao Chinese beers. We missed the ferry so had to have a few more beers, ho hum. On the ferry back to the mainland we both fell asleep, but we woke up and went to the IFC Mall. We were going to buy some food and drink and head for the rooftop garden like the night before but we decided to find Red Bar on the 4th floor. This bar is amazing. TJ had a Gooseberry Lemonade cocktail and Russ had a beer- a real treat. We met a couple of Scottish Asian guys and we chatted to them for a bit as they lived on the Island.
Over and out til Hanoi!
