After a very bumpy flight all the way from Melbourne, it was spectacular coming into Hong Kong between the mountains & over the harbour. Really different to so many other airports.
Nothing is open until well after 10am, so we wandered around a bit to get our bearings.
We're staying in a great hotel in a really central location. Our first meal was in a trendy little restaurant around the corner. We had one of the best lunches we've had - the rice cake soup with dumplings, was amazing. We don't know what else was floating around in it, but it was yummy! They also brought little plates of pickled vegetables, which were so good!
The people of HK are very friendly & polite. Everything is so clean & organised, & we're sure if you were here for a week, you'd get to know your way around the city pretty quickly.
We both had a massage, & I had the most expensive pedicure ever, but that's ok, you live & learn.
Next we negotiated the - extremely efficient - rail system, then walked forever to find the bus to take us to The Peak. It was well worth it though, with a lovely circular walk to see 360 degree views of the city & harbour. Amazing skyscrapers growing right out of the mountain peaks. Had a G&T at the little cafe at the end of the walk, then caught the cable tram straight down the side of the mountain - & I mean straight down - so steep! Made our way back to the local streets for softshell crab & tempura. Not a bad first day.

Lois Great to see all went well so lucky with the weather. It was hot when we were there but it rained when we went up the mountain. Did you get to see the big fire works display think you might have missed it by a day. They showed it on news here
Lois Went into Team Carlson couldn't find it but when I searched Hong Kong it comes up Team Carlson so would have to know where you are to follow
