I was up before the crack of dawn and managed to get showered, dressed and even do my hair before Dad arrived at 4am. I wasn't sure if the hair straighteners were going to cool down enough to put in the pack before I had to go, but luckily they did. Even at this early stage, my hair is the only part of me that looks decent! After a slightly teary goodbye to Mum and my cat, Daisy, I was on my way. Dad and I had a hot drink at the airport, and it was really nice to have him there to see me off.
I was sitting in 6C on the plane, which is just two seats away from 6A, which is apparently the best seat to sit in in the whole plane. Not sure why though. You can't beat an aisle seat as far as I'm concerned.
The flight was uneventful and I had three seats to myself. I wish I had taken advantage of that and laid down for a sleep. I feel so tired right now. The flight to Singapore is about seven hours away and I can't be bothered with customs, so no going out to do a mini visit to Sydney. Hopefully there is enough in the airport to keep me occupied. At least there is free internet - woohoo!
I did have to clear the transit people though, and was randomly chosen to be tested for explosives, and be frisked in front of heaps of other passengers - my lucky day! Strangely my walking/hiking boots set off the alarm here, but not in Welly. Took them off and all was good, but then I was pulled aside - maybe I just look a bit dodgy? Hopefully I'll be able to pass through future customs with no probs at all.
Right, that's me for now. Might be in touch when I'm in Singapore, otherwise will check in from Blighty!
