Port is buzzing...
As the school holidays began the town is absolutely buzzing with childrena nd young people. I went for a walk on the beach and the picture today was much more different. The beach was full of kids swimming, surfing, playing volleyball and picking stones; a long queue outside the cinema and the shopping mall much noiser than usual...I really began to appreciate this side of the world more.
We went to a friend of Denis, Bart and Mandy yesterday for breakfast. Jodi and Tom, and their beautiful 2 kids, Eva (a 4 year old princess) and Noah (a true bum shuffling toddler). Anyhow they are selling their home to move up to Gold Coast. It's like a dream home, I wouldn't even hesitate to buy it if I had the money (and the plans to move here:)) It was nice talking to Tom about how UK compares to Australia as he's also lived there for a few years in his youth (well, he's still young too). It's obvious that the quality of life is much better here than the UK particularly if you have a family, want to be in nature...and surf...as Tom is a keen surfer! London has its virtues also, housing millions of people, but space is tight...and if that's what you want in your life now it can be a struggle.
As for me, I'm beginning to realise that London is not where I will reside for much longer. My motto has now changed to "less is more"...
Anyhow, I sat on the beach reading a book I've just bought by Mitch Albom called "tuesdays with Morrie", so far absolutely absorbed in it...A beautiful story of a professor giving his last lessons to a young man, as he tries to die with dignity...Made me think a lot about dying people, how we hide them, how we avoid seeing suffering and how unsettled we get when talking about them...Yet this is the story of a man who has a "living funeral" because he wants to actually hear what people would say about him on his funeral day and accept his last days not being afraid to exhibit his detoriation...
Ok, I'm returning to those pages now...
