Small steps at a time
Travelling life is just as interesting as staying put somewhere. Everything revolves around meal times, as eating is very improtant part of taking in the local culture. SInce coming to Rajasthan what I noticed is that food is less spicy, more creamy and definately fruity. The curries with fruits and raisins are soooo delicious. I do feel like I've had enough of Indian food but then western food is always a dissapointment here that it is best to stick to Indian food.
I went on a colourful weighing scales in Mumbai, that had flusing lights on it, to find out that I put on 3kg in Mysore in 5 weeks. It wasnt so surprising as a lot of us were feeling a lot more plum, but 3kg is way too much. I loved the way poor old indian man had to weigh me 3 times because i refused the fact that I weigh so much. As part of his great service he wrote down my weight in big letters on a piece of paper and handed it over to me as well, just so that I never forget it!
Anyway, today has been a cold (maybe in 20s), cloudy, sometimes rainy day. We didnt do much other than walking around, buying a train ticket, going to coffee day and taking photos of bikes. Judith is on a mission to do some panning shots of bikes, rickshaws and so on. It was actually great fun to stand on the side of the street and catch funny shots of passing traffic. The families, peopel carrying explosive cyclinders, their shopping, one man getting a lift at the back of a bike and holding on to his crutches...I really enjoyed it. I dont think I have any decent photos but certainly loves seeing some amazing things.
We also have adopted Jon, a fun 51 year old English from Epsom (??). He's in India for a short time and has been with us since lunch time yesterday. We did a lake trip together and going to the Monsoon Palace this afternoon, then heading towards Mount Abu tomorrow. He's pretty funny guy! Judith and I slowly started to ask him personal questions and feel like giving him a counselling session sometimes. He's doing really well with us.
I have so many photos to upload, having lots of fun, meeting the locals. Just today I practised carrying a sellers basket on my head. She was laughing at my poor balance on my head, I have no idea how they carry all those things without dropping them. She even put that round ring on my head before teh basket but still it seem to slip away easily. So for now I practice carrying a book on my head...
