Everyone has a story
I wanted to write more about people and their stories but felt that I may be launching into people's personal lives a little too much; some of those people may even be reading this blog and it could be unfair. So I decide to generalise!
A friend back home has been made redundant at work, anxious about her future so she feels that she must stay put and work out a solution. However as there isn't any urgent financial crisis I recommended to take time out, leave the country for a while and look at life more objectively. (Just had a funny thought, I feel like I'm writing about myself, although I haven't been made redundant yet. I feel that I left so that I could think more clearly about my future). Isn't there a saying that we can't see the trees from the bushes sometimes? It is harder to find your way out when you're in a maze than looking at it from above (phew, see the connection to my eagle here?)
I just killed two mosquitoes as I've been writing this by the way. A funny article will follow about that one day!
So in Mysore this is exactly what I found, courage from other people. There are so many people here who have left the rat race, to do something they are passionate about but gives them better quality of life, better relationships, happiness and definitely less money but they don't seem hugely bothered about that.
The danger of getting accustomed to this lifestyle is that people get lazy and withdrawn from the society so it becomes a permanent escape, whereby they live here for years, doing not much but yoga. Buddha did say that we must not get so internalised that we have no use in this world.
So I understand those taking a few months or even a year or so out to study yoga, recover from illness or emotional scars but with the aim of returning back to society (not necessarily a busy one) to pass on the benefits.
Bed time now, it is past midnight and I have a taxi picking me up at 6am…
