Mumbai is not that bad...
I arrived in Mumbai late last night after a long journey from Varansi. I had found this city pretty chaotic but after what we have been through with Judith in some of the touristy places my opinion changed significantly. The city was glowing with lights, people were out at cafes and restaurants, although there was traffic noise there was also a calm flow to it. So I warmed to the city this time.
It was good to be able to just walk around in the morning without getting hassled, people were either commuting or simply getting on with their daily business. I went to the gateway of India, the sky was clear blue, sun was shining, it was hot but not so humid.
My tasks were pretty much set for the day, getting my camera fixed (I messed it up after our camel safari, I think I took part of the desert in my camera), got my watch fixed, went to The airline offices for my ticket changes and then as I was walking past a cinema I decided to watch whatever the next moving showing was, it turned out it was Juno. I've so far away from the benefits of living in a city for sometime, so it was the perfect movie to watch. Then I sat at a cafe, reading my book (The power of Now), sipping some great coffee (bot I miss good coffee), then went to the park in the centre of the city and watched people play cricket. I love the passion of Indians here, the cricket...It was also good to see that everyone was enjoying it. There were some league teams uniforms and proper gear; but a little further down the park it was the street kids playing in their dirty clothes and slippers. Everyone was having equally fun!
Oh, I obviously made enough friends here already too. The guys at the hotel are adorable, they have me a flower for my hair this morning and all are as excited as I am about my mum and brother coming, they all know my name:)) Then I also bumped into the Bollywood extras recruiter, my friend who loves to hang out with me all day. He came running after me this morning saying "ok, I'm done for the day. Now I can hang out with you". This time I had to be very firm and say that I had a lot to do and didnt need his company. He just gives me the creeps when he tries to act as though we're dating. I already have my story laid out thank God, that I'm getting married in July and mum is coming for a shopping trip to India with me! Phew...
Anyhow I am super excited about meeting mum and brother. I probably will not be able to write as much on my blog but maybe that is a good thing. I need time out, disappear for a short time,be Now with my loved ones...
Off I go...until next time
PS. Oh one piece I need to write up on my blog is a little story I wrote about Indian man yesterday at the airports...Its my gratitude and love to India:)
