It's now 7 weeks since I left London. Time just flies by.
I realise that I haven't written much for the past few weeks as I seem to have got into a routine and sometimes getting back to my room late that I don't have much energy to do anything but collapse on bed. The guests' arrival day (one Saturday every 2 weeks) is the most manic stage where people are checking in and out, asking millions of questions. And I feel like a parrot repeating myself, to the guests it sounds all good because it is the first time they hear it. The first group was easy considering some of the difficulties we encountered like the pool not being open, massage service not being available, internet being down and so on…But there wasn't many complaints. One character that really sticks to mind was of this Swedish couple. The wife was absolutely wonderful, she was doing the yoga and socialising. But the husband, who apparently is recovering from a serious accident and walking with a stick, seem to have a such arrogance and ego that he made himself unbareable and unapproachable. I tried to show interest in him in the first few days but he grumpily said "you ask too many questions" and there was a funny comment he made when I went to their room to show where the plugs were "you run this place like a girls' boarding school"…Arrgh, I just wanted to tell him to piss off and leave if that's what he thought but had to bite my tongue. But to counterbalance there were some great characters, like Amy 29 year old Indian girl from London, Irene from Sydney who is crazy about food, Maureen 55 year old English yoga teacher taking interest in doing my job next year, Paul whom I practiced with in London in Triyoga, good party goers Natalie and Barbro…
Its such a small world, that you somehow see similar faces travelling around and doing yoga with different teachers in India. Probably the cutest addition to our group was a tiny puppy who showed up at the retreat. Marci loves dogs so instantly decided that we must look after the puppy until we find him a home. So this puppy has been pissing on our sofas, in the shala, chasing other dogs tails, chewing on people's shoes…He really is adorable but unfortunately cannot stay at the retreat much longer so Marci will take the puppy with heron Friday. And he still doensnt have a name. There has been suggestions like Spot, Colin, Pal but nothing seem to stick. I think the name will eventually come to the dog, he'll need to earn it.
Otherwise I seem to float in timeless awareness and unawareness. My days seem to go very fast as they are pretty structured: yoga at 6.30am then breakfast, work for 2 hours and then hang out by the swimming pool until lunch; after lunch head home for shower and return around 3pm to do a bit more work; then head into 4pm yoga and have dinner afterwards. There doesn't seem to be much time or space for anything else. But I'm not complaining either…
