Malaysia
Last time we wrote, we were waiting for the train, it was delayed over 12 hours but we eventually got to Malaysia, we headed to Penag which is an island just off the west coast of the mainland.
When we arrived we got proper lost and ended up stay in a room above an internet cafe, it was less than a fiver a night and we got what we paid for, the following day we found a hostel and stayed in a dorm for a few nights, during the first day we hired a man on a bike to take us round the city for an hour which was good he took us round all the historical sights. we then went to a few historical places and the museum all which were how britain used to own the little island and i got to sit on a cannon. The following day we set off on the local bus around the island and ended up at a massive buddisht temple which was pretty impressive but the camera ran out of battery just as we got there so no pics of that one. The best bit about Penang was the food you could get currys for about a quid and they were amazing, only problem was it set a pretty high standard that nowhere else really came close too.
The next day we headed to the cameron highlands which as you would expect is high up in the middle of the country, it was the first cold place (well about 25 degrees) we'd seen in 6 weeks which was pretty good, I was tired of being a sweaty mess, this place was a bit strange, they grew strawberrys and made tea a lot it was like being at wimbledon all year round. We went on a tour round all the farms and drank some proper tea and learnt how it was made. The following day we went on a supposedly easy walk to see the worlds biggest flower, the walk was totally uphill through pretty rough terrain and even though we are at peak fitness it was hard and Jennie tried to give up we made it up to top and seen the flower (which was nearly dead, see the pics) but it was good that we made it and going downhill was good that didn't take long at all. The next couple of days were just spent chillin as we were knackered after the walk next we headed to KL.
In KL we didn't do a great deal, it was just like any other city really, we went to see the twin towers and tried to walk through the sky bridge but it was always sold out of tickets whenever we went there, we went to the National museum and had a look around but it was just a chilled couple of days before we headed south to Malacca
Malacca was a historical place with museums and forts but they were all replicas so not that impressive really, we did a river cruise which was pretty good and the shopping centres were massive we went bowling there and just ate and wandered round for 2 days before we moved down to singapore.
Singapore
We got to our hostel when we arrived in singapore and it was full of locals going to work and school everyday which was a bit wierd, as such there was no atmospheer so we moved on to another hostel which was a bit more but worth it for some atmosphere. Our first day we got on their subway(MRT) and just went around the city, it is really impressive how clean and tidy everything is there is no mess anywhere and when the train comes along they sing you a little song "train is coming, enjoy your ride", later we went on the Wheel which is the biggest in the world, so we were told, it was good as it overlook the F1 track which goes through the streets, and the view were good from so high up. The second night the new hostel ran free scooter(not motorbikes, daft kids push scooters) tours through the city so we had a go thinking it would be a half hour ride, we were shoched when 4 hours later we finished we were pretty knackered but got to see a lot of the city. The next 2 days we spentat the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, these were really good especially seeing the bengal tigers being fed and the monkeys and the orangutangs playing, it was good seeing the nocturnal animals actually moving about compared to just wathing them sleep like you do at most zoo's.
Were just sat now waiting for our flight to Austrailia so will update in a few weeks, photos should be pretty regular now as the internet speeds are a bit better.
