Saz and Dave's travels
Today was our last day in Singapore and in South East Asia which we were very sad about as we love it here and never want to leave! Our flight to Sydney was scheduled to leave at 7.50pm so we had almost a full day to spend in Singapore.
We decided, after getting up late to get the MRT to Orchard Road, the main shopping street as Dave wanted to buy an FM transmitter and we both wanted to look for some walking trainers. Orchard Road is crazy! It is packed full of all the shops, malls, bars and restaurants you could want, most of which are pretty pricey (compared to the rest of Asia anyway). Being the budget seekers that we are we headed straight for the rather dodgy-looking mall where Dave actually managed to get an FM transmitter for about a tenner.
After some more looking round the shops we started to feel a bit tired so we got the MRT back to Bugis Junction where we got an amazing apple crumble with caramel sauce and ice cream on a hot plate! It seems to be the case that whenever we get to Singapore we go on a major binge and end up eating loads of junk food (I didn't mention the Roti Prata with ham and cheese we had for breakfast!).
After this we went for a shower, realising that there wasn't actually that much time until check-in. We then got another MRT (packed as it was rush hour) to the airport where Dave managed to wangle some free samples of Johnny Walker gold and green label. We also continued our very unhealthy eating pattern and got 20 McDonalds chicken nuggets to share!
We ended up with pretty crap seats on the plane as it was a flight from Frankfurt via Singapore to Sydney so all the aisle seats and emergency exit seats were taken. Dave sat behind a very arrogant German bloke who put his seat back as soon as he could during take-off. Later when the guy fully reclined his seat, Dave feeling incredibly squashed politely asked him to put it forward a bit. The guy replied by saying "have you finished your meal?". Dave said yes and was met with the reply "well this is just how things are!".
We somehow managed to get some sleep after some plane food and films and arrived in Sydney at 5.10am the next morning.
