Good Evening All,
After a tearful goodbye at Manchester airport we were on our way! A brief half hour flight to Heathrow with the Australian national netball team (stu always thought he was small but a bunch of 7 foot woman made him feel like a hobbit even more!!) We arrived in terminal 5 and another security check was needed to get through to terminal 3. If we had any regrets of leaving the UK they were certainly not there anymore after the unhelpfulness and bad mannered staff at Heathrow. We were glad to leave this behind!!
We made it to our gate in the nic of time and to celebrate we toasted our travels with some VB (Victoria Bitter) courtesy of Qantas. Considering it was my first long haul flight I was extremely proud of my limited moaning, in fact I found the food rather yummy and the 13 hour flight went quickly. Stu was very cramped by the rude fanily infront who by the looks of it just wanted to sit on stubs lap for the whole 13 hours despite the air hostesses constant asking for them to sit forward.Stu was only comforted by the fact the he wasn't an Australian Ntional Netball team member and was infact glad he was on the shorter hobbit saize!! On the flight we met a lovely older couple who lived in Canada and Mexico who were visiting their daughter in Perth so we got lots of tips for when we get there later on in the year!
Once we disembarked we found Changi airport a million times different to Heathrow it had calming music even though there was a stern warning any drugs trafficking results in DEATH!! we nervously went through security (not that we had anything to hide just maybe a Bridget Jones moment), grabbed our rucksacks-thank god they got put onto the correct flight after much worry and grabbed a taxi to our Hostel!
Arrived safely at the Hostel which is actually really fancy, took a walk and somehow stumbled into MacDonalds to grab some tea and now it's off to bed.
Night Night x x

brenda Glad u arrived safely, only Stu could get an awkward person infront on the flight!. enjoy Singapore, especially the Singapore sling! Speak soon! Had to get Nick to help me get on this blog!
Nico Rocks! Nice to see you're keeping us updated. Although it'll be interesting to see how far you'll keep this up! -Take it from me, when you're so far away in a different Country with a complete backward Culture the Last thing you want to be doing is glued to a Computer screen instead of Exploring... My advice would be use the Time wisely! There were times on my Travels where I could've kept up with a Journal and stayed in the Hostel with my head in a Book...OR instead Explore a new beach or Town for example! Enjoy the most of it, use every bit of time you have in one place to the full ! Keep the Pics coming too!
John Trust you to go 4000 miles to Macdonalds you could have gone to Upton it is much closer and cheaper. No doubt it is Burger King next ! Have a bit of class - Raffles is nice this time of year and we Ballams always choose the best, shaken not stirred. Good to see you are making friends with the netball team they could be your introduction to the Ashes. Offer to carry their bags! Good idea to classify the airports, those we love and those we hate - article for the Air Times. Speak again soon cheers JB ( yes James Bond )
