We didn't get the house in Mandurah. It came as a bit of a shock, especially to me, the others had their doubts but I was sure we were going to get it. This we found out at the beginning of the week the options we were left with was to keep looking for somewhere to live, move in with an old lady that offered me and Emma a room in her house but that would mean leaving Dorethy and Sedgewick or stay in the caravan park. It's really fun living with the Frenchies and none of us have the energy to keep looking for somewhere else to live so we decided to stay in the caravan park.
The four of us come up with some crazy ideas. One night we decided to go to Bali in a month's time. We looked it up on the internet and everything. We figured it's nearer to get to Bali than it is to get to Sydney from here. It's a dream at the moment but you never know… if we come up with the money the four of us will be on our way!The caravan park owners are stereotypical caravan park owners! They're a lovely couple although slightly eccentric! We have lovely caravan neighbours as well but once again match stereotypes of folk that live in caravans! After work on Wednesday Dorethy and Sedgewick picked me up and we went to buy bed linen and did a BIG food shop for a BBQ we planned to have that night. It was the best meal I've had since I've been away. We had steak, sausages, hot dogs, corn on the cob, potatoes, salad, wine, beer, and whiskey. Awwww it was the best!Last night me Emma and Dave decided to go out in Fremantle (party place). We got doled up to the nines in our little caravan, waved goodbye to open mouthed, wide eyed caravan folk neighbours and headed out for a night on the town. As we arrived in Fremantle on the little single decker transperth bus I could have easily been on a double decker 43 bus arriving in Islington. It was so good to be out in a proper London type night life place. We went to see a live band and did a lot of dancing. We also met up with some of Dave's friends from Sweden and ended up all of us staying at a very strange house indeed! Crazily decorated and animals everywhere!! Tonight im staying home because there's a storm outside and someone has to be here to mop up the floor because our little tin can of a house has some serious leakage problems. But in no way do I envy Do, Sed or Em who have had to go to work in this weather!
Homesickness hit a bit at the end of the week and I think me and Emma have started to get itchy fit to move on and do the east coast. I've started to work on Fridays as well because saving my wages hasn't exactly gone to plan so far! Also I love all the new friends that I've made but I miss the people in the world that know me at home and who knew me last year and the years before and who are going to know me next year and the years after etc.
One last thing that has been bugging me big time. Crossing the roads in this country. At home you push the button and wait a max of 20 seconds for the green man and if there are no cars coming no one looks twice if you cross the road and the man is still red. Also the green man gives you plenty of time to cross the road at your own leisurely pace. Here it's a completely different game. You wait 5 minutes for the green man (no exaggeration) and all the time you have an annoying ticking sound in your ear. If you cross the road when the green man is showing it's called jay walking or something, its illegal and random people shout, frown or shake their heads at you if you do it. After 5 minutes of waiting you have 2 seconds to sprint across the road before the red man reappears. Whilst the green man shows the tick tick ticking gets louder and faster so you feel like you're in a race, which is even more annoying while you peg it across the road. To get to work I have to cross three sets of traffic lights which adds 15 minutes to my journey to work… Annoying or what!
Have internet in the caravan which is fab!!
