1 week and 1 days after we got food poisoning (yesterday), a doctors visit, a hospital visit, plenty of bed rest, drastic weight loss, a move to Asvem beach and then to Panji, a cocktale of medication, 3 injections, 2 5* Marriott hotel meals later we are both feeling a lot better. We booked a flight straight from Goa to Delhi we wanted to do it by train but because we're low on time now we thought it would make more sense going by plane. It's really nice getting back into the travelling swing of things again.
We've only had today in Delhi as we have a train booked for 2morow morning taking us to Haridwar which is a very spiritual place where the Himilaya mountains meet the river Gange. Looking foward to that. So today we had to do a bit of cramming in Delhi we spent the morning at the main bazaar and did a bit of shopping and then this afternoon we went to a zooalogical park where we saw white tigers!!
Overall India is full of extremes one minute you can be in the best place of your life and then next you can be in hell. The hassles that me and emma face everyday and that we used to shrug off have started to take their toll. Before we used to tell people 'no thank you we dont need help we dont want to buy anything we dont need a room and we dont want you anywhere near us. ' Now we're ruder, firmer but a little more desperate with our 'Please leave us alone' and 'I cant hear myself think' and our most commonly used phrase at the moment 'Go away.' I've never been more aware of the colour of my skin. White=money. So the poor people want your money and the rich people want to be near to you beacause.. ok i dont really know why but thats how it is. Like today at the zoo so many rich families asked if we would stand in their family phtos with them. I asked one family 'Wouldnt you prefer it if i took a photo of just you and your family? After all you dont even know us?' But she insisted she wanted us in the photo. Me and emma dont mind the photo thing so much we thinks its weird but it makes us feel kinda famous what does annoy us is when people try and sneak next to us and get there friends to take a photo that we dont know about. I've definitly realised that covered shoulders, knees and chest are the way foward and create a bit more of a hassle free time.
I hope no one thinks im moaning i know im incredibly lucky but i dont want to just write about the good stuff because there's always going to be bad stuff with everything. On a positive note our lonely planet india book (which has become our bible) reassures us that Haridwar is a hassle free place! Yey!
Thank you all for writting on my message board- always makes me smile.
