Med-2023
Got up at 8am, woke Tim up at 9am - it was dark and very cloudy. Cleared up and became a GROGEOUS day. Took our time getting ready. We headed to Maggie Valley and stopped at a leather shop so I could get a new belt, since the fire from the "Dragon" ruined my other one. Then, went to the Wheels Through Time American Motorcycle Museum - VERY, VERY neat, I highly recommend it to everyone.
Then, to Cherokee to the Harley Shop, where I bought another, un-needed Harley shirt. A guy at the shop told us to get some good ole southern barh-bee-que at a place in Bryson City. We stopped at a drive-in place called Nay-bers, and had some pretty good little sammiches. Then, we realized that the place the guy told us about was one block down the road. Oh, well!
Off to Fontana Dam, the largest one in the eastern states, built originally to provide power to ALCOA, but used for power in support of WWII. Very neat. 14 deaths, took years to build.
All in all, a very fun day. Back at the hotel at 7pm. Sitting on the veranda drinking wine and enjoying the wonderful evening.

Jymbo Fontana Dam! Now there's a blast from my past. My folks took my brother and me there during spring break back in, dare I say, the 60s? We even took a tour inside the dam. I wonder if they still allow that? I vividly remember the giant spinning turbines. Wow! Thanks for the memories...
Sandi Valois You're welcome! They don't allow tours anymore, since 9/11. It was still a very cool dam though.
Jymbo Your saying it's a "Damn cool Dam?" LOL.Too bad we're gone from being a Country of Freedom to a State of Paranoia.
