We left Melbourne on the 10am flight to Singapore after waving goodbye to sams parents, Gill and Mal, arriving at Changi airport at 4pm. The flight was smooth sailing with video and game entertainment which kept us pretty well occupied. ('Yes man' and battleships so no complaints). Sams friend Scotty met us at the airport and took us to his place where he lives here in Singapore with his lovely girlfriend Tash. They're place is quite central to all the action of Orchard road and we headed straight to a place close by for the celebratory Singapore Slings and beers. For dinner we headed to the famed Hawkers markets with a couple of their friends for a feast of asian skewers and other asian plates (including carrot cake which contains no carrot and is not actually cake!). It was so hot we were literally dripping with sweat.
The next day Sam and I went for a run into the botanical gardens, once again hot and sweaty but very enjoyable. We also walked along a refloxology footpath which was pretty cool. We then spent the day with Scotty and Tash on Orchard road and then onto Fort Canning by which time we were absolutely exhausted from all the walking. We headed home for some R and R before going for some 'homemade' noodles at the food court down the road.
Today (Tuesday 20 April) we've spent the day sightseeing (Tash and Scottys amazing breakfast was the perfect start to the day) through the city, getting lost and then having some more yummy food. Sam's officially taken on the role of Navman and chief map keeper after I got us lost!
Now we're about to head off on our own to Johur Bahru in Malaysia so a special thanks to Scotty and Tash for putting us up for the past few days and showing us a good time - it's been the best way to start out trip so thanks very very much!
Until we can write again please take care and keep in touch.
Nikki and Sam
