Hey everyone, have worked out the new map on our website, tres cool no?
Our first day in Singapore was good, very hot and sticky though. They have a very nice, clean, tidy, empty subway system, with AIR CON!! and 'thought of the day' on the information screens. You aren't allowed to eat or drink on the subways (or even walking along i think?) but we snatched a couple of mouthfuls of water when we thought they weren't looking. They're very serious about it though, it carries an on-the-spot fine.
We explored Chinatown in the afternoon, and we looked around a little Chinese market. There were lots of lanterns and decorations about, it was really pretty. In the evening we had dinner in Little India (so we had an indian, naturally... a meal and a drink for about 2 pounds!) In Little India there are some spectacular Diwali lights on the streets. It is very surreal to one minute be in a part of the city where you are surrounded by everything (and everyone) Chinese, and then to go to a different part and everything and everyone is Indian. Truely a multi-racial city!
