So I am currently trying to get my head around this website! It does not help that it is 9:07 in the morning here in Perth; I have been awake since 6! And Jet lag is a b****.
So I began my travels Sunday evening. I had been out for a meal and then back to my friend Kate's the night before and as usual we were all still up till the next morning, so Sunday was a very tired and emotional day! Although had a blady good send off! My dad and sister took me to the airport, checking in at Gatwick took basically a day as these two Malaysian guys decided to check in a house which cost them an additional 2 grand- not even exaggerating! So by the time I had checked in, there wasn't much time for soppy goodbyes as needed to go straight through security. After a few tears (didn't have many left as created a river early Sunday morning) and a hug with the dad and Rosey which I think was our first hug ever, I was walking through security and of course having to be touched up by the security guard as I never fail to set off the alarms.
All was straight forward from there and I was on my way to Kuala Lumpur. I was sat in the middle isle and had a spare seat next to me and then this lovely young girl, who may have thought I was lovely too until I wake up to her asking me if I could please take my legs off her lap as she needed the toilet!!!
At Kuala Lumpur I had a five hour wait! Luckily there was free wifi and an amazing Asian food hall. Their chow mien was to die for! Mostly out of boredom I got two boxes of the stuff!
After an interrogation about how long and why I was going to Perth I was on the plane. This time I wasn't so lucky and was sat next to this woman who should have really brought two seats as her ass was basically on mine! At 5:30am I arrived to Perth to find my auntie and uncle waiting with a bottle of water (which was needed, as it was only 5:30 in the morning but already a scorching 28degrees!)
I got to my aunties in Kalamunda, its right up on the hill which has been named million dollar hill as the views are amazing! I was welcomed with a good ol British scrambled egg on toast! Her house is pretty amazing- I have my own bedroom with double doors onto the pool, massive room with double mirrored wardrobes and an en-suite, great way to start travelling although I'm sure will make me envy those in hotels when I am in hostels, with bed bugs instead of an en-suite!
I spent my first day in my bikini by the pool. It reached an amazing 39 degrees so I was in the shade most of the day as that was too hot even for me! My cousin Kyrie, her boyfriend Ben and house mate Kylie all came up at lunch time. Was great to see them all! endless bottles of beer, amazing food, a pool and the sun- made me realize why I'd come to Aus! The whole day I was pretty jet lagged and confused as had left on Sunday and it was now Tuesday evening, so I was in bed by 9! Trying to figure out how I'd lost a day.
On Wednesday I woke up at half six, and as my family were in bed I had a lovely Skype session with Rose and dad- I was obviously still not with it as for a good ten minutes I was talking and getting her to type as could not hear them! Yea volume button on a laptop was made for a reason! Had a lovely swim, and then a traditional Ausie breakie- mashed avocado on toast- blady lovely!!! I set up a bank account and then chilled out by the pool with the very tame bandicoot that comes up to their house. I spent my second evening in the cinema! Yes I went to the cinema my second night in Aus! The cinemas here though are amazing! Reclining seat- banging! What wasn't banging (in my opinion) was Safe House. Denzille was as usual a great actor but maybe due to Jet lag or the fact it wasn't a great film my eyes kept closing and I missed the last ten minutes!!!! Fuming!
Today is my Aunts bday. She's still in bed and I have been up 3 hours! What I'd give for a lay in! This afternoon we are driving down to the coast and going to have a browse down there and then some grub. It's a bit cooler today- 29 ha-ha still hot but compared to nearly 40 its noice!
I already have quite a bit planned, so all very exciting! This weekend I am going to Rottnest Island. A guy from works cousin lives here and he has invited me to join him and a load of his mates on a boat over to the island. It is a channel swim (we aren't swimming) and people go over on their boats watch the swim, then when at the island watch the presentations, have some dinner and then stay on the boat the night partying. There are another two boats going with the one I am on and he's told me it's a pretty big event for Perth quite similar to our Derby day, so I am being brave and going on a boat with a whole load of strangers to get boozy and experience what he says is similar to our Derby day (a pretty big event for us ha-ha). On the 17th March- St Paddy's day I am going with my cousin and Ben to a festival, the first week in April I am off to Adelaide for a few nights & we are also driving down to Coral Bay to camp for a bit. All very exciting and making me glad I decided to just leave my job and come to the other side of the world for a bit! Who wouldn't want to do and see what I am doing now!
Right I am off for a swim and then some breckie! Hope your all well back in the UK. Write again soon.
