Welcome to this test to find a good means of recording a journey on a touring type holiday.
Day 1: Featured a departure from South Wales and stop over at Reading services and the first instance of losing ones bike partner.
Day 2: The journey from Reading to Dover ferry terminal and short trip from the ferry to St Omer. No losses on that journey. A safe trip with just the frightening sight of a toddler stepping out into traffic on his own still with pacifier in his mouth and unaware of the danger he was in. Luckily this 'enfant' was spotted by drivers and the tale of him being returned home safely has no doubt been regaled across a few dinner tables.
The day ended with a journey into town for frites and boisson with one of us assured that St Omer proffered a chippie in the centre of town opposite a state of the art toilette. True story. However, I had to admit I was wrong, as we arrived the friteria appeared bizarrely like a set for a Hopper painting and was just as one of us remembered it!
Day 3: An interesting day with a short lived separation between St Omer and Givet. Givet however remains in my memory from the first visit two years ago when I purchased expensive cheese for a self made baguette to be made and eaten al fresco. Today's affair was less grand with frites by the cone overlooking the river.
The next stop was for fuel and a visit to a wonderful Yamaha store with a strange Batmanesque trike, even more bizarre was the knowledge that this was the same stop made two years previously!
Finally we have stopped in Thionville, typically the day was getting hotter just as concentration began to waver and Miss Sat Nav had some which made a hotel that was just 2 miles away seem incredibly elusive. However, hotel, MacDonalds and Buffalo Grill all in walking distance appeared mirage like as we exited our last roundabout of the day.
