We stayed at Main Beach on the Gold Coast just a short walk from Seaworld and just across the street from the beach.
When we arrived we had lunch and then we went for a swim at the beach and then immediately went for a swim at the caravan park pool. And in the evening we had dinner at the marina which was only a short walk away. It was really hot and humid so we were all a bit kranky. Nice to not have to cook in the caravan.
The next day it was time for the Jeep to get serviced. We dropped it of in the morning and then took the tram to a shopping centre to look for some new bathers for the kids, found nothing. Then we took the train again to Broadbeach where we had lunch before walking up to Surfers Paradise. It was a very long walk and it was very hot. But when we got to Surfers Paradise and the kids were still sleeping I had time to find myself a new bikini. Yay!
We took the train back to pick the car up, enough walking for one day. We were going to have dinner at a shopping centre close to the service place but they had closed so we went and had dinner at the surf club which was just across the street from the caravan park. It took a really long time to order the meal but the meals came out very quickly after that. Very efficient kitchen or a lot prepped before hand?
Seaworld time! It was only a 15 minute walk to get there, nice to not have to look for parking or pay for it!
We started of by watching the sealion show. Patrik and I spent the first 5 minutes just watching Elise because her jaw dropped down to her chest when the show started. It was so funny. After she got over the start of the show she really enjoyed it and so did Max. Then we went to see the dolphin show. It was excellent, but it didn't really beat the dolphin show we saw in Sweden. After two great shows it was time for lunch. Just as we sat down at a table and Patrik went to order it started to pour down with rain, and it just kept going. We were sitting upstairs at the restaurant and had left the prams at the bottom of the stairs. They were quite wet when I ran down to save them from the rain. Luckily we had some towels with us that the kids could sit on later. The rain didn't stop until we decided to buy rain ponchos and had finally gotten them on the kids and ourselves. Typical!!! It did continue raining of and on though, so we did get some use out of them.
Another hit with the kids were the polar bears. We bought a book about them which we now have read quite a few times. They love it. They also loved all the puddles after the rain. No point trying to stop them from running in them. We also saw seals, stingrays, sharks, turtles and lots of fish. Patrik and I also took turns on one of the roller coasters. Fun to be a kid yourself sometimes.
Before leaving the Gold Coast we spent some more time on the beach. We also caught up with my old Dunk room mate Heather and her family. Great to catch up after so many years (14yrs).
