The first afternoon in Coffs Harbour we went to the pool and splashed around a bit with the kids. It was a beautiful pool area with waterslides and splash area. The kids loved it!
The next day we took the caravan to a service place. It needed a few little things fixed, like reattachment of the bathroom fan and the ignition on the gas stove didn't work. It was all easily fixed and we picked it up again in the afternoon.
After dropping the caravan of we went to the Big Banana. As we were driving there it started raining but we kept going, we thought that it may stop. When we had parked the car and we were considering if we should run for it or not, it started to rain really hard. We decided to reverse out of there and go to the shopping centre for lunch instead. There they had under cover parking and we could get out of the car without getting too wet. After lunch we went for a little drive so that the kids could get some sleep and we thought we could do some sightseeing. We could not see much at all because the visibility was so poor. Some of the streets were starting to get flooded as well. In one street there were people walking with water up to their knees.
Instead of driving around in it, we went back to the caravan park and sat in the car and did some planning for the rest of the trip. It kept raining for the rest of the day and night so once back at the caravan park with the caravan we stayed there.
The next day was a little better. We drove up to Dorrigo National Park and had lunch and looked at the great views. We also went for a short walk around the rainforest. Then finally we went to the Big Banana, bought some snacks and souvenirs and got the photo. Have to do those silly tourist things!
Next stop after Coffs was Yamba. We stayed only one night at a caravan park which was like a resort. It had two different pool areas. One with waterslides and the other one had a pool bar, splash area, jacuzzi, kids pool and adult pool and a restaurant. It also had a great play room for kids under 5. It was really hot in there though until we put the aircon on. The receptionist said that we would come back in the morning and book more nights, people always do apparently. It would have been nice to stay there longer because it felt like a luxury resort, but we are of to Byron Bay!!!
