Nomad Nads
We're back!!!!!! Just spent 3 days and 3 nights on a 90ft Maxi Yacht, called Anaconda 3, sailing around the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef....
The trip got off to a good start with a glass of Champagne....and got even better when we met our room mates - two very nice Swedish guys (Gustav and Martin thanks for being such great fun and I hope you enjoy your stay in New Zealand as much as I did x). Pip then sets the standards by being issued stinger suit number 69!!! The cabins were...shall we say...cozy!?!? with barely enough room to move let alone do anything with a cat!!
The first day was spent chilling on Whitehaven Beach with the really squeeky sand, before having lunch and then heading onto our next destination for a spot of snorkelling near Lunchin Bay. The underwater world is truly amazing. A real escape from reality. Have decided i want to come back as a fish. We didn't find Nemo but we did find all of his friends!!
Day 2 we were on the move again to the outer reef. This time it was pretty rough out in the open sea (no land to be seen on any horizon in any direction!), and without going into too much detail...my stomach is not meant for the open seas!!!! The great barrier reef was by far the most impressive for corals of all different shapes and sizes and stunning colours but the fish were really incredible on day 3 at another bay reef. The crew threw bread into the water which caused a mad feeding frenzy - with us right in the middle!! it was great although i did half expect a shark to come along and eat the lot of us!!!!
We arrived back around 2pm on friday. Couldn't really wash for 3 days as limited water supplies so the first thing we did was check into our hostel and hit the showers!!! Aaahhh... hot running water... Bliss. (David and Lynn thought you might want to see where we are staying, so here it is..Koalas Resort pictured).
So after we rinsed all the salt off we went to Reefos to meet up with some of the people from the boat for what was meant to be a bite to eat and one drink......Oooops.
There was a real mixed bag of people on the boat and we managed to get to know them really well (Hi Hayley hope you managed to get cleaned up and find your ground legs x) So we are now chilling in Airlie before we get another overnight bus journey to Cairns. Ba humbug.
Overall it has been a great few days but am looking forward to what lays in store......
Take care hope all is well in the uk xx
