Nomad Nads
Today i made my way from Auckland to Raglan via Hamilton. The hostel is truly fantastic!! It is set in the rainforest on the side of a mountain with a Flying Fox zip wire, Ropes, table tennis, basket ball hoops and.....a sauna!!
After playing around (ie. having many many gos on the zip wire and screaming like a little girl!) for a bit we all ate dinner together in the communal kitchen and decided that after sitting on a bus for hours a walk was needed. When we came back from the walk (hike is probably more accurate!) we all relaxed in a sauna for a while (tough life this backpacking isn't it?!?!?) But the best part of the night was still to come.....Zooming down the zip wire in the dark was brilliant fun - All you could see were the glow worms lighting up your path below you, and the stars lighting the black sky above you - a truly fantastic experience forever embedded in my mind.
The following morning waking up to the birds singing and stepping out into the freshest mountain air was incredible too!! We then headed to Waitomo Caves where i went Glow Worm Caving. This has to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life and wouldn't have missed it for the world (although to be perfectly honest i wasn't too happy about being that far underground but it was so spectacular that it became easy to forget).
Later that day we made our was to Hahei where we had a BBQ, played cards, listenen to Vince play his guitar and chatted under the stars into the early hours of the following day.
All in all - loving every minute. Hope everyone is well xx
