Hey guys xx
Got a job!! yey!! Its in a really trendy little Woodfire Pizza place called Embers. I started on friday, the people are lovely, its less than 10min walk from my house, the boss is great fun (a lillte mad actually but bloody good fun to be around!) and best of all........FREE PIZZA!!Well chuffed its really good pizza too!! So...probably gonna come back fat!!
So having got a job sorted I decided to spend the weekend on Moreton Island on a 4WD Camping Tour. It was sooooo much fun.....Moreton is the 3rd largest all sand island in the southern hemisphere (the 1st being Fraser Island, the 2nd Stradbrooke). The ferry over to the island was spent geting to know the rest of the group which were a real mixed bag; 4 Ozzies, 2 Irish, 2 French, 1 Korean, 1 Mexican and me!! But as soon as we all started chatting it was clear we all got on well and were gonna have a good time. So, we let the air out of the tyres in preparation for arriving on the island (gives better traction on the soft sand). We straight away headed down the beach to set up camp. We then hit the sand dunes for some sand tobogganning and sand boarding. Wow do I have some colourful bruises as a result of that!! Once again, going down takes no time at all but walking back up is a killer. We were there for quite some time as it wasn't too hot. We then hit the surf, much needed to wash the bloody sand out of places you never knew you had!!! We then headed round the other side of the island to watch the sunset with a few cold beers. Absolutely magical. Apologies for the amount of sunset pictures in the album (i guess if you were not there they would be pretty boring to look at, but for me it was truly magical). We then headed back to camp for dinner and bed.
5.30am start on the next day..hit the surf straight away for some snorkelling around the ship wrecks. This was really wonderful. I have never done anything like it before. Close to the wrecks is a huge natural ecosystem of the most colourful fish ever. We were there for well over an hour before the tide came in and it was too strong for us to swim in anymore......headed back to camp for a well desereved breakfast of pancakes!!! We then headed to North Point and onto Mt. Tempest (Worlds Highest Sand Dune!!) for some serious toboganning. walking back up that really was a killer. We only managed it twice but racing down was great fun! Then went to Honeymoon Bay for some lunch. Beautiful little secluded beach where the sand is so fine it squeaks when you walk on it (apparently it is pure silica and is of the grain that is used in exfoliators and jewllery cleaners!)
The day was finished by chilling out in the Blue Lagoon (ironic as it is pretty brown due to the presence of the Tea Tree Oil). This was lovely. We all dived down to the bottom and scraped up some real mud and had a free facial.....!!
Overall it was a fantastic weekend. I didn't want it to end. But i see what Tom meant about it being a weight loss program - i haven't done so much in two days in my life! Needless to say i had a very good nights sleep last night!!
I'm afraid things are probabaly gonna be pretty boring here for a while as i will be working as many hours as possible to get some money before Pip arrives mid March.
Hope everyone is well xx
