Greetings from Malaysia! Finally made it here safe after a freezing 5 hour bus journey (thankyou lonely planet for reccommending a blanket for transport - i would have arrived frozen to the bone without it!) followed by a pretty scary local bus trip to the hostel. Staying at Traveller's Lodge - the rooms are really basic i.e one bed and one fan, but is nice to have a little privacy after spending so long in dorms. Been exploring the town today - quite a culture shock i can tell you!!! Pretty lonely too - only seen one other western person today and that was in the hostel! Feeling concerned about the food (as they have livestock living next to food outlets and everything is prepared in the open) so had a peanut and bananna sandwich for breakfast (figured can't go too wrong with that), but feeling a bit queesy now. i put it down to the heat. Walked around Chinatown and visited Stadthuys, St. Paul's Church and Christ Church. All cultured out so gonna head back to the hostel for some shade and rest. Will head to KL tomorrow. xx
