Finally made it to Hong Kong after flight from Hanoi got delayed due to a storm that engulfed the airport and prevented from anything taking off!! Then had to change aircraft altogether but it was fine as had a nice welcome when I landed with a very nice car to take me to my hotel!! It is exactly like the picture here - such bright lights. I was like a rabbit in headlights! It is such a stark contrast to Hanoi - well to anything i've experienced in asia so far actually - so modern and well...western! Have had a good day today with Lisa, Fleur and Jodi exploring Hong Kong Island. The ferry ride accross was short but sweet, we then took a short trip on the World's longest Escalator (woo hoo) and then took a cable train up Peak Tram. The views from there were pretty awesome. We then headed back top the mainland via the subway under the water and had a really nice dinner. Am off to bed now as have an early start tomorrow to start making our way to Yangshou. Am looking forward to that as it is meant to be the 'Backpackers Mecca', but although we leave tomorrow morning we don't arrive till tues afternoon. One hydrofoil trip and another overnight train yet..... Hope all is well xx
