O my God what a great time I am having!!!! Good company, food and sights in a truly colourful and lovely country.
The Kung Fu Show was excellent - very dramatic and theatrical with vibrant colours, loud music, unusual dancing and some great martial arts stuff involving knives and breaking steel rods on their heads! Jason I was thinking of youu the whole time - you would have loved it! he 'actors' were genuine Shaolin Monks - got to meet them afterwards and they are suprisingly short!
Yesterday has to be one of the best days of my life....up early to get to The Great Wall. It is truly amazing and fulfilled alll my expectations and more!! Managed to climb the main section with all the other thousands of tourists and then Dave, Andrew and myself climbed over the restored section to get to a very old part which was falling down. It gave you a real sense of history and wonder (and the deserted horizons made for great piccys too!). We then headed to the Ming Tombs where the 13 Emperors of the last Dynasty were buried.Slightly dissapointing but then I was still buzzing from The Great Wall that nothing could have stod up to it! Came back to our hotel to change and straight out for dinner. Had a fab night in the Happy Bar eating, drinking and singing karaoke with a dutch tour group. Staggered in at 3.30am this morning after polishing off Kathryns chocolate (thankyou verymuch xx).
Take another overnight train to Shanghai tonight, hope all is well xx
