So good to wake up in a bed and not get dirty feet after a shower! Decided that we'd go and have a look at Friday island (as it is Friday). There's a demonstration on a pearl farm and a nice Japanese lunch to go with so we booked that then headed down to 'uncle frankies' for breaky on local advice. After a cruise around town (we saw it all!) it was time to catch the little taxi to Friday. For to the island and were sat down for our bizillion course meal. There was this really nice salad thingo that was served on these cool pearl shell plates but my pick was the pearl meat, apparently it's not something you get that often because they try not to kill the shells when they harvest the pearls so they can use them again. After that we went and saw the farmer (kazu) harvest and put in a new nucleus for a pearl which was really interesting and quite skilful. Then we went to the pearl shop for some souvenirs but we stuck with the pearl shells so we can make some little dishes. We got invited to a tombstone unveiling ceremony by one of the ladies in the group with us but unfortunately it was on saturday arvo and there are no ferries on sunday :(. Got back and cruised around a bit more before going back to ben's to write out some post cards and chill out for a bit. Headed out for dinner at the fanciest place in town, really nice dinner and great company! After we got back ben was called out for a retrieval on a neighbouring island and the rest of us headed for bed.
