First stop curtain springs with a lovely outback public toilet!! And our first emu of the trip!! Past mount Connor ... More of a rock than a mountain but u say potato and I say potato (that doesn't quite have the same effect in print!!). Then there was road and more road and more road! Although not entirely what I expected of a desert highway ... Heaps more trees and shrubs, looks a little like NSW, I would like to come back when it's dry, kinds feel like I've missed out on the 'outback'. Pitt stop at kings creek station, a little nicer than the last one but still with a bit of american ranch style charm! Had a snack from the servo... P.s. does anywhere in this place have caramello koalas?! Yay kings canyon resort... Caramello koala!! Yum. Got to kings canyon just before lunch time and popped into the local resort to get some lunch supplies and mum was ropeable about the lack of helicopters ( not that I would want to go up on one that was due for a service!). We reached the start of the canyon walks and mum decided the she wanted to have a look a walk that is about a few k up the road according to random stranger number 1 for the day. So after about 10 km. in the car we decided that he was on drugs and came back to do the 1 hour walk to the middle of the gorge. I was a little disappointed that we couldn't go up the top but after a few stairs I decided, well my legs decided that it was probably a good thing. The canyon was pretty nice and the creek bed looked like something from a movie but it was such a long drive! We had lunch in the canyon and went on our merry way. P.s. on the way back we saw the turnoff for the other walk... Sorry random stranger for thinking u were on drugs (but it was like 20k up the road!). After the long drive and a series of nanna naps in the car we headed on up to the sunset lookout at Uluru with the remainder of a bottle of red, so far, it promises to be a good one!! Off to the local for a bit of dinner and a bevvy before an early start tomoz with the camels!!
