Fiddle faffed around a bit this morning, Nichol put up his mammock (I'll put the photo up later). Tried his hand at fishing again but the fickle fish weren't biting. Said our good byes to our 'neighbours' and headed out. Through st George (apparently, I was sleeping!) stopped for lunch in a little rest area before a town I can't pronounce starting with a D then into lightning ridge. Doesn't look quite as interesting as coober pedy but you can't have everything. Went to have a look at the artesian bore pool, full of old nannas it was like being in a retirement home, I am so over seeing the grey nomads everywhere ... A bit if variety please! So gave that a miss, come back tomorrow for a hot shower! Got the gas filled up and enquired about rates at some van parks but a bit too pricy for what you get so onto the free one just out of town opposite a big bird bug called Stanley. He is made don old beetles and was meant for the birdsville track (he's a giant bird after all) but it didn't come to pass so being the tip rats that they appear to be, lightning ridge said we'll have it! Interesting but of trivia, lightning ridge is so named because a long time ago 10 sheep were hit by lightning in this area. So cold now, both blankets and I'm still wearing long pants and a jersey!! Boo I want cairns weather again!!
