6th march. Quickly dropped into Venice beach on the way up to Hollywood. Found randy's donuts which Nichol has been looking for but because donuts were pretty much the only palatable things on the breakfast menu at our hotel neither of us wanted a donut and we went all the way around, off the freeway to get there! Oh well, got a picture!! Found out what people are talking about when they mention LA traffic, it's mid day and the traffic is barely moving... Go to work people!! Went for a little drive to see sunset blvd because that was the only place we could remember and saw the many, many mansions with their little Mexican gardeners. Then on to the Hollywood sign. Done! Back to the hotel to settle in and check the place out. The Roosevelt is a beautiful hotel, fabulously maintained 1927 piece of Hollywood history, apparently the first academy or Grammy awards or something were held there. Had a few drinks at the bar, then Nichol had a few more!! Had a good old chat to the bar tender and met these lovely people who were travelling for work and had just popped in to see the landmark hotel. Spent a while chatting to them then headed out to the strip with Nichol in his bubba gump hat to find the Tom hanks star. No dice but we found the hand prints bit. While we were walking some random asked Nichol is he could take his picture because he thought he was Tom hanks... What a weirdo!! After wandering around looking for the star the most exciting one we could find was Matt Damon (read it slowly!!) so we took a picture of that instead!
